Our Story
Everton, Art, and a Dash of Determination
From Health Struggles to Doodling Adventures
Forever Everton didn't start as a grand plan; it was more like a doodling escape. Picture this: 2018, I find myself stuck in the hospital dealing with kidney failure, meaning lots of time in hospital (15 hours per week) hooked up to dialysis. To keep my sanity during those never-ending dialysis sessions, I thought, "Why not give drawing a shot?" Inspired by a cool Richarlison sketch by a Marvel artist in the Everton program, I grabbed some art supplies and jumped right in.
Navigating the Learning Curve
Admittedly, my initial attempts at drawing were less than stellar. The early sketches wouldn't even make it to my mum's fridge! Undeterred, I was resolute in my commitment to improvement, unaware of where this newfound passion for doodling would lead. Sharing my progress on social media platforms connected me with fellow Blues who appreciated witnessing the evolution of my artistic style.
Therapeutic Sketches to Unforeseen Adventures
As my following grew, Everton reached out to feature my work in the match program—a dream come true for any devoted fan. However, with increasing sales, it became essential to discern the purpose behind Forever Everton. Amidst this journey, I found solace and therapeutic relief in drawing, allowing me to just love the players again, like the 8 year old version of myself, instead of focussing on who wasn't playing well!
Beyond personal fulfillment, my goal was to create designs and products that resonated with other Everton fans. This commitment led to the development of a bestselling colouring book, emphasising the mission to encourage drawing and creativity, even if it meant cultivating future competition.
The heartfelt support from the fanbase has been overwhelming, with customers curating their collections and sharing their joy through heartwarming photos, especially during Christmas. In 2024, my wife Ellie has joined the endeavor, adding her artistic touch to the business. As the journey continues, personal dreams include designing program covers, contributing art to the streets around Bramley Moore, getting my work in more player homes (10 so far), and growing the business so that my kids can be proud of me.
As for the kidney failure, I was lucky enough to be given a new kidney at the Royal Liverpool in March 2021, so I’m ready for whatever the players, manager, board and Premier League have to throw at us.
Thanks a million, Blues. UTFT!
